PhD candidates should have passed a Master’s degree or a similar foreign diploma prior to their admission. The funding of the dissertation is usually a prerequisite for the admission to the PhD.

PhD candidates should apply directly to their doctoral school. Since those doctoral school are regional and include several higher education and research institutions, please check on their website for appropriate contacts and more informations.

Steps to admission

  • Search for a dissertation subject: the candidate must choose a dissertation subject amongst those suggested by the doctoral school and must then contact the dissertation supervisor linked to a research laboratory.
  • Funding of the dissertation: the candidate makes sure, thanks to his/her dissertation supervisor, that he/she is entitled to a dissertation funding and if necessary, looks for one.
  • The students who do not benefit from any funding for their dissertation will only be admitted after their file has been carefully examined by the doctoral College.
  • Admission and registration: the candidate can then download and complete a registration file and send it to the corresponding doctoral school secretariat to be processed.
  • A candidate is only definitely admitted once the source of his/her funding has been checked and if the chosen dissertation supervisor (accredited to supervise research) does not supervise more than 3 doctoral candidates at the same time.
